At Unicle we are scientists first, and are truly excited to help you discover patterns, identify relationships and test hypotheses in complex biomedical datasets such as those generated from molecular profiling technologies, electronic health records or laboratory information systems.

Jermaine Govieia

Jermaine was trained as a molecular biologist at the University of Amsterdam and as a physician-scientist at Utrecht University, both in The Netherlands. He performed research internships at the laboratory of Rakesh Jain at Harvard Medical School and clinical clerkships in pathology at the Mass General Hospital, Boston. Thereafter, he pursued a PhD in single cell analysis in the laboratory of Peter Carmeliet and started residency in clinical pathology at the UZ Leuven (Belgium) before co-founding Unicle in 2020.

Matthieu Moisse

Matthieu obtained a PhD in medical sciences in 2015 and a master degree in Computational Engineering in 2010 both at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. He has been as been active for over 10 years in the field of bio-informatics, with a focus on cancer and neurology. During this time he developed multiple pipelines for data analysis of array based and next generation sequencing data, going from whole exome and genome sequencing data to SNParrays and Methylation arrays. He founded his first NGS consulting company, GenAdvice, in 2016 and became a co-founder of Unicle in 2020.

Jasper Smink

Jasper is an experienced management consultant with an entrepreneurial mindset devoted to challenge the status quo. He holds a MSc in Business studies from the University of Amsterdam and founded his first company in 2008. In 2014, he started his career as a strategic management consultant supporting business (both corporates and scale-ups) to realize their transformation ambitions and improve performance. Jasper will contribute to the further development of Unicle as a company, by ensuring Unicle’s products and services are aimed to maximize Unicle’s clients success and build strategic partnerships.

Peter Carmeliet

Peter Carmeliet, is head of the Laboratory of Angiogenesis andVascular Metabolism and former director of the VIB-KU Leuven Center for Cancer Biology. He published 720 papers (90,003 citations, h-index 142). He currently uses multi-omics (single cell) technology to study how endothelial cells (EC) change their metabolism during vascular branching, exploring the therapeutic potential of targeting EC metabolism for anti-angiogenic strategies. Peter won various awards, including the Francqui Prize in Biological and Medical Sciences (2002), the Ernst Jung Prize in Medicine (2010) and the Heineken Prize for Medicine (2018). In 2015 King Filip of Belgium granted him the Noble title of ‘Baron’.
